Patients Discharged on Antithrombotic Therapy
Why is this important?
A patient who has experienced a transient ischemic attack (TIA) or is recovering from a stroke is at high risk of having another TIA or stroke. Antithrombotic therapy (aspirin, etc.) can decrease this risk. The American Stroke Association recommends that antithrombotic therapy be initiated within 48 hours of hospital arrival and continued after leaving the hospital.
How WellSpan Compares
Real-time data collection and analysis reveals that stroke patients at York Hospital receive antithrombotic therapy according to the recommendations of the American Stroke Association. The graph below shows the percentage of stroke patients who were given antithrombotic agents upon discharge from the hospital.
