PA Healthcare Cost Containment Data
The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council
(PHC4) is an independent state agency responsible for addressing the problem of
escalating health costs, ensuring the quality of health care, and increasing
access for all citizens regardless of ability to pay.
The Council’s strategy to contain
costs is to stimulate competition in the health care market by:
A) giving comparative information about the most
efficient and effective health care providers to individual consumers and group
purchasers of health services; and
B) giving information to health care providers that
they can use to identify opportunities to contain costs and improve the quality
of care they deliver.
The following graphs display the cost and volume data
for individual procedures performed at regional hospitals for the 12-month
periods 7/1/02 – 6/30/03, 7/1/03 - 6/30/04 and 7/1/04 – 6/30/05.
